Featuring Documentary Family Photographers, Including Jana Bee Photography!
May is for celebrating all kinds of Motherhood. Even though Mother's Day has officially passed, I wanted to be sure to share this beautiful photo essay on Motherhood before we officially reach Fatherhood territory (June). Let's be real though, every damn day is Mother's Day. I'm so incredibly honored to have one of my photos featured alongside other beautiful, moving, achingly real photos by fellow Documentary Family Photographers. It's important to me that Mom is actually in these photos, and that years from now the kids can flip though a photo book and relive the most important moments.
My featured photo was taken during a six hour half-day in the life shoot in Downey, CA. Sisters can have a tough time of it growing up. I'm a sister myself, and the getting along part was rough stuff. These two fluctuated between loving and fighting, just like all sisters do. I captured this moment when mom stepped in to quelch the tears after one of those rough moments.
